Bespoke Illuminated Cabinets for Mondrian London

Maritime-inspired showcases and integrated retail displays for Tom Dixon’s landmark hotel interior

For Mondrian London, Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio conceived a series of illuminated display cabinets to showcase objects and artefacts inspired by the maritime heritage of Sea Containers House. Designed with an understanding of Unibox systems, the cabinets were developed and manufactured by Unibox in collaboration with The Cardy Group.

Located within The Den, the black powder-coated Curiosity Cabinets featured glazed, lockable doors and integrated lighting. Arranged in different configurations throughout the space, they displayed an eclectic collection of maritime objects, including a vintage diving helmet and model ships – contributing to an interior narrative inspired by the glamour of transatlantic travel.

Unibox also manufactured an integrated illuminated retail display for the hotel’s agua spa, combining product shelving and lighting within an architectural display system designed to complement the spa interior.
