Dnata Interior Design Illumination
Operating in 84 countries across 5 continents, dnata is one of the largest air service providers in the world. Having outgrown its premises at Manchester Airport’s World Freight Terminal, 2020 saw dnata invest over £30 million in the development of a new 145,000 ft² facility with the capacity to handle over 150,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
The design brief provided by dnata suggested that the main entrance area of its building should serve as a celebration of the company’s presence in Manchester. To achieve this, a large-format LED lightbox showing illuminated graphics of dnata’s global operation was to be installed directly onto the lift shaft in the lobby.
Manufacture and Installation
Unibox completed the manufacture and electrical assembly of all 44 lightboxes at our Manchester-based headquarters. Having gained experience and expertise when working on similar projects for the likes of KPMG, Parkeray and Foggo Associates, the technical complexities involved in producing these lightboxes were no obstacle for our team.
We were able to modify existing technologies to allow the fascia panels in each lightbox to be fixed into place magnetically. This feature meant that, should they need any routine maintenance work or updated graphics, the lightboxes could be accessed without difficulty.
Now, fully installed around the lift shaft in the facility’s main entrance area, the bespoke lightboxes sit proudly as a symbol of the organisation’s continued growth at Manchester Airport. Our technical ability and creativity enabled RPS Group and McLaren Construction to provide dnata with an impressive illuminated display that performed according to their exact specifications and blended seamlessly with the interior architecture of the building.
