How our Lab-35 retail display system brought flair and functionality to leading cycling stores

How our Lab-35 retail display system brought flair and functionality to leading cycling stores

Display solutions appear bespoke but achieved using various elements of our standard components

Decades of experience go into our collaborations with global brands, design agencies and fit-out specialists to create retail environments that excel in product display and visual communications.

The Unibox team has been privileged to work with some of the most prestigious brands in the world of retail cycling to create display solutions that appear bespoke but are actually achievable using various elements of our standard components. As the UK’s largest manufacturer of modular aluminium retail display equipment, we engineer engaging, ultra-functional solutions that show off the merchandise to its best advantage.

Modular displays and lightboxes for Giant Cycles’ experience centre

We were delighted to be asked by Whiteroom, a leading full-service commercial interior and experience design studio, to partner with them for the roll-out of its global retail concept for Giant Cycles.

Whiteroom designers turned to Unibox while working to overhaul the look and feel of Giant Cycles’ UK showroom and experience centre. They needed to develop an elegant solution that would resonate with Giant’s brand identity while providing robust product displays capable of withstanding heavy usage on busy shop floors.

Using Whiteroom’s design concept, we proposed a solution using our Lab-35 retail display system.

Inspired by the aesthetic of science laboratories, Lab-35 enables us to create on-trend product displays and shelving systems that can be customised, reconfigured, and updated to meet brand-specific objectives.

We maximised the effectiveness of these displays by integrating tension fabric graphics, LED lightbars, and wall-mounted LED lightboxes in strategic locations to capture the attention of Giant’s customers as they move through the store.

The concept has proved so popular it is now being rolled out to Giant Cycles’ locations across the UK.

Retail display and visual communication for Brompton showcase at Fudge & Sons

Fudge & Sons Cycle Store is based in Paddington, London, and our Lab-35 system was used to create the entire range of retail display and visual communication equipment for its headquarters there.

Again, working to a design brief, and employing a variety of our in-house products, we configured and manufactured all the bike displays to suit the dimensions of the store. This included a striking, full wall display for Brompton foldaway bikes, which maximises the available merchandising space and incorporates a combination of perforated steel and CNC timber shelves and back panels, with integrated lightbars, and graphical lightboxes.

The finished result is an eye-catching, clever use of the space in keeping with the foldaway, space saving nature of the Brompton range.

Other fixtures include double level (bunk bed) displays with integrated light panel shelves for brands such as Merida and Raleigh, which allow for full-size bikes to be displayed above each other, while still allowing for customers to walk around them for a 360-degree viewing experience.

The double level display means bikes don’t have to be wall-mounted, while using the floor space in this way increases the overall mechanising area. The space is completed with built-in till points, branded graphic lightboxes, and the use of powder coating based on the F&S colour palette.

Custom POS solutions for Cervélo at Henley Cycles

Active lifestyle marketing specialists, Unearth, are regular collaborators with Cervélo bicycles and its team was called on to design a unique Cervélo space to create the right impact for the brand when Henley Cycles doubled the size of its Henley-on-Thames store.

After Unearth finalised the visual brief with Cervélo, and after having its mock-ups and mood board signed off, we were delighted to be called upon to design and create the various POS pieces, once again maximising the solutions created by our Lab-35 retail display system combined with tension fabric graphics.

Our brief was defined by a contemporary colour palette and fixtures, so the laboratory-inspired aesthetic of the Lab-35 system was perfect as it resonates with the retailer’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technologies whilst providing a clean, minimalist canvas that enables the bicycles and accessories to take centre stage.

We used Lab-35 in custom configurations to create a series of wall-mounted and floor-standing display plinths, all with integrated tension fabric graphic panels showing inspirational images of Cervélo’s bikes in their natural habitats alongside important product information.

It’s not the first time we have worked with the team at Unearth to bring their concepts to life, and we are grateful for their kind words about us in their blog here
